Bowtie Viewer

Navigate to the Bowtie Visualization tab from the dashboard to view dynamically generated diagrams connecting hazards, causes, and consequences based on your parsed data.

CRITICAL REQUIREMENT: For these diagrams to populate, the file MUST have already been successfully parsed for AI Bowtie Generation. If the file has not been parsed with the Bowtie configuration enabled, the visualizations will not be generated.

Diagram Layout & Legend: The bowtie diagrams are mapped left-to-right to visualize the flow of an incident.

Causes (Blue): Located on the far left.

Preventative Safeguards (Green) & Recommendations (Gray): Located between the cause and the bowtie center. Safeguard nodes feature numerical badges indicating their assigned credit value.

Unwanted Event / Bowtie Center (Orange): The central circular node representing the hazard.

Mitigative Safeguards (Green) & Recommendations (Gray): Located between the bowtie center and the consequences.

Consequences (Red): Located on the far right. These nodes feature embedded risk matrices displaying both Unmitigated and Mitigated risk rankings (Category, Severity, Likelihood, and Risk Ranking).

CRITICAL NOTE ON P/M CLASSIFICATION: For the system to correctly place your safeguards and recommendations on the right (mitigative) or left (preventative) side of the bowtie center, your source file MUST contain a "P/M" column that identifies their type, and this must be mapped properly.
If the program cannot find a P/M column mapped at all, it will default to populating everything (all safeguards and recommendations) on the left side (preventative) of the center node.
If the P/M column is mapped, but a specific safeguard or recommendation has a blank cell or a "-" in that column, the system will default to placing that specific item on the right side (mitigative) of the center node.

Top Toolbar & Controls: Above the diagram, you have access to several interactive controls:

View Tools: Use the magnifying glass icons to Zoom In and Zoom Out, the circular arrow to Reset Zoom, or the expand icon to view the diagram in Full-Screen mode.

Filters: Use the toggle switches to Show Recommendations or Show Zero Credit Safeguards on the diagram. You can also access an Advanced dropdown for further filtering.

Advanced Filters: Click the Advanced dropdown menu to reveal a secondary panel containing specific risk filters. You can click the individual bubbles to filter the diagram by specific Severity (e.g., A, B, C, D, E), Likelihood (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, 5), or Risk Ranking (e.g., High, Medium, Low).

Export: Click PNG, SVG, or PDF to download a high-quality image file of the current diagram.

Pagination: If a Top Event has a large number of causes (e.g., more than 10), the diagram will paginate them. Use the blue pagination buttons to click through to the next page of causes.

Directly below the visual diagram, the system provides a synchronized interactive data table that displays the raw data powering the currently viewed bowtie.

Table Toolbar: Use the icons on the top left of the table to Download the table data, copy it to your clipboard, Toggle Search, or expand the table to Full-Screen.

Column Filtering: Click the funnel icon located inside any column header (e.g., Node, Deviation, Causes) to open a detailed filtering menu. This allows you to set conditional rules (like "Contains"), search for specific terms within that column.
Bowtie 9.png

Search Bar: Once the search toggle is active, use the long search bar above the columns to instantly locate specific text, deviations, or causes within the table.
